About Ronald J. Schafer

Most people call me during one of the worst weeks of their life. They’re hurt, the checks have stopped, and the BWC paperwork makes no sense. My job is to turn that chaos into a plan. In more than a decade of doing this, I’ve seen just about every way a claim can go sideways, and I know how to push back. You get a straight answer on the first call, and you can reach me when you need me.

From Cuyahoga Falls to Public Square

I grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, just outside Akron. After high school I went to North Carolina for college and finished a political science degree at UNC Greensboro, cum laude, in 2009. Then I came home to Northeast Ohio for law school.

How I learned this work

I started at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2009 and worked all the way through. My first legal job was clerking at Gallo & Gallo, where I learned workers’ comp and injury cases one file at a time. I then spent a summer in Eaton Corporation’s legal department, which gave me a look at how large employers approach legal issues. After that I clerked for a Cleveland trial firm representing injured people. I earned my law degree cum laude in 2012 and returned to Gallo & Gallo, a firm with a long history of representing injured Ohio workers, as an attorney. Since then I’ve handled workers’ compensation, personal injury and Social Security disability cases,.
